Lucerne

Lucerne is directly located at Lake Lucerne and embedded within an impressive mountainous panorama. The historic city with one of the oldest, covered wooden bridges in Europe, the Chapel Bridge, enchants me whenever I’m in Lucerne. One of my favorite excursions is a walk along the historic Musegg wall, which, with the exception only of one of its towers, has been preserved in its original and offers a breathtaking view over Lucerne, the lake and the Alps. What made my day, was a stay in the emperor Wilhelm II suite at the Hotel Schweizer Hof.

Montreux

If you hear the name Montreux, you probable think of the song “Smoke on the Water” from Deep Purple and surely the city at Lake Geneva is forever connected with the Jazz festival, which takes place here every year in July. Apart from that, one of my most impressive experience here was a visit of Chillon Castle, directly located at the lake. A place of inspiration for romantic writers and poets from around the world like Victor Hugo, Alexandre Dumas, Mary Shelley and Lord Byron. Similarly inspiring, with a great collection of memorabilia from the festival is Hotel Fairmont – Montreux Palace which seems to have the biggest spa at the lake.

St. Gallen

„St. Gallen, the compact metropolis of eastern Switzerland between Lake Constance and Appenzeller country has a charming, traffic-free old town. Colorfully-painted oriel windows are a town feature. The Abbey precinct with the cathedral and Abbey Library has been accorded UNESCO World Heritage listing. I once did a daytrip from Zurich, to visit of the oldest library in Europe, went along Lake Constance, had a city tour of Constance and back to Zurich, where I stayed in Privathotel Neues Schloss Zürich, an uplifting place in the vicinity of the high-end shopping area Bahnhofstraße.“
